Catch TED at Cannes
TED is coming to Cannes. Starcom MediaVest Group has aligned with TED to bring the organization to the festival and main stage. The seminar will be held at the Palais de Festivals on Tuesday, June 21 at 12:30pm.
The title of the TED@Cannes seminar is “The Meaning of the Connected Experience,” and it will “explore the beauty and importance of connectivity as it affects our understanding of the world, our performance and behavior toward others.” While connectivity is growing stronger with the evolution of technology and ease of communicating, the session will also question whether or not there is value in sometimes dis-connecting.
The speakers slated to take the Cannes stage include Bill Barhydt, a “digital savant and trailblazer” of the Internet and mobile space, who spends his time building new technologies and creating products that have an outstanding global reach. His last creation, M-Via, a mobile remittance company, helped people without access to bank accounts become members of the traditional financial system through mobile technology.
Also debuting on the main stage is Tom Chatfield, a writer, author and thinker who focuses on the impact of new media and games. He is the author of forthcoming book, “50 Digital Ideas You Really Need to Know,” which discusses the good and the bad of a “switched on” and connected culture.
Sarah Kay, who has appeared at past TED events, will be the closing performer. A poet known for her unique style and performance, Sarah will be showcasing her spoken word poetry technique, the same poetry she used to listen to as a young teen in New York City.
